CDC Monthly Bulletin for Year 2015

Year 2015-December

Overall, the influenza activity in December was quite higher compared to previous month. The number of influenza viruses
detected and Influenza positivity rates (IPR) for some sentinels sites increased by two folds compared to previous month. The most predominantly detected subtype was still Influenza B/Yamagata.

Year 2015-November

Overall, the influenza activity in November was higher compared to previous month. The number of influenza viruses detected and Influenza positivity rates (IPR) for some sentinels sites increased by two folds compared to October. Influenza B/Yamagata was still the most predominantly detected subtype. 49 samples were identified with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) among children less than 5 years of age.

Year 2015-October

The influenza activity in October appears to be lower this month compared to previous month. In contrast to last month, the most predominantly detected influenza virus was B/Yamagata. 32 samples were identified with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) among children less than 5 years of age.

Year 2015-September

Compared to previous month, influenza activity in September appeared to be lower. Influenza virus A/H3N2 was still the
predominant subtype detected. The number of influenza B identified was higher compared to August. Five Respiratory
Syncytial Virus (RSV) were detected among children less than 5 years of age.

Year 2015-August

Similar to previous months, the influenza activity in August remained high and was higher compared to the same period
in 2014. Influenza virus A/H3N2 was still the predominant circulating subtype. Two Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
were detected among children less than 5 years of age. One confirmed case of Diphtheria with travel history to
Thailand was reported through event-based surveillance (EBS). The case was reported dead the same day after
admission at hospital.

Year 2015-July

Influenza activity reported in July 2015 appreared to increase compared to previous month in June as well as to the
same period in 2014 and 2013 respectively. Influenza virus A/H3N2 is the most predominantly detected virus. A
cluster of 35 ILI cases from Trapeang Phlong 2 Village, Trapeang Phlong Commune, Ponhea Krek District, Tbaung
Khmum Procince were reported through Event –based Surveillance (EBS).

Year 2015-June

The monthly respiratory and influenza bulletin reveals influenza activity in Cambodia during June 2015. Similar to last
year, A/H3N2 was the most detected  strain of all influenza viruses detected in June (88%). During this report month,
the  influenza season appears to have  started, later than in 2014.

Year 2015-May

Reported low influenza activity in May was similar to April and a lot lower compared to the same period last year.
Similar to last month, the two most detected influenza viruses are H1N1pdm and H3N2.

Year 2015-April

Reported influenza activity in April remains low and lower compared to the same period last year. Two most detected
influenza viruses are H1N1pdm and H3N2. There was no respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) reported among patients less
than five years of age.

Year 2015-March

Following seasonal trends, influenza activity remains low. Accordingly, influenza detection in March 2015 was higher
than the previous month but is approximately similar to the same period last year. 50% of influenza cases detected
were A/H3N2. No respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) laboratory confirmed cases were reported in March among patients
less than 5 years of age with respiratory disease.

Year 2015-February

Following seasonal trends, influenza activity remains low. Accordingly, influenza detection in February 2015 was lower
than the previous month but is much lower when comparing to the same period last year. Only two influenza cases
(H3N2) were detected. No respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) laboratory confirmed cases were reported in February
among patients less than 5 years of age with respiratory disease.

Year 2015-January

Influenza detection in January 2015 was lower than the previous month (December 2014) and is also lower when compared to previous years. Six influenza cases were detected across the surveillance systems; four were A/H3N2, one was A/H1N1 and one was influenza virus B.  The detection of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) among patients under 5 years of age with respiratory disease decreased compared to last month.
